AI-assisted development
AI tools are changing how software gets built — considerably faster and, used well, at higher quality. I work with tools such as Claude Code every day and help you adopt this way of working without giving up technical control.
What this is about
Between the extremes — “AI will soon write everything” and “it's just autocomplete” — lies the productive reality: AI agents that, guided by an experienced developer, implement entire work packages, write tests, prepare code reviews and keep documentation current. The bottleneck shifts from typing to judging — and that is exactly where it is decided whether the result holds up.
I don't consult on AI development, I practise it: my own projects — including this website — are built AI-assisted, with the same standards for architecture, testing and operations as before. Combined with over three decades of engineering and leadership experience, that means: I know what the tools can do today, where they fail, and how to introduce them into existing teams without losing quality and accountability.
Focus areas
Adopting AI tools
Which tools fit your stack, your data protection and compliance requirements and your team? I help with selection and adoption — from policies for handling source code and sensitive data, through pilot projects, to the question of how to measure the benefit honestly.
Agentic ways of working, day to day
The difference between “a chatbot on the side” and real productivity lies in the way of working: cutting tasks so that an agent can implement them; capturing project knowledge so that it gets reused; automating verification steps. I bring proven working patterns and adapt them to your development processes.
Quality and control
AI-generated code needs the same discipline as any other: architectural guidelines, reviews, tests, CI. I help set these guardrails so that the speed of the tools is preserved — and not bought with unreviewed changes that become expensive later.
Enabling your teams
The biggest lever is not the tool but the team that masters it. I work alongside developers on real tasks — pairing instead of slide-deck training — until the new way of working is self-sustaining. I bring leadership along too: what actually changes in planning, estimation and roles.
How I work
I usually start with a real work package from your backlog and use it to show what AI-assisted development delivers today — measurably, on your code. Building on that, we clarify policies, tools and working patterns for your team. Technically I am at home in modern Java and Jakarta EE (Quarkus, Vaadin); the way of working itself is stack-independent.
Does this fit your project?
A short message is enough — I'll get back to you promptly.
